THANKS for letting me share...... I was born & raised in Chicago, Illinois. Grew up on the near west side. At 11, found myself at many band rehearsals with my musician father, JOHNNY VARGAS (a trumpet player ... STILL PLAYING TODAY in his late 70's). I was exposed to music of the 50s & 60s as well as traditional Latin music. That's when I discovered my LOVE FOR MUSIC! By 13, I began to play bass guitar with my first band, “the New Youngsters.” Within a year, I was PERFORMING LEAD and VOCALS and afterwards, mastered the lead guitar and keyboards. Through experience with many diverse musicians and bands over the years, as well as exposure to various types of music such as rhythm and blues, soul, jazz, and rock & roll, this has allowed my musical sound to mature into a melodic Latin Jazz-Funk-Rock sound. At 17, I had my first recording studio experience at Streeterville Studios in Chicago producing the “Neuron,” LP “For What We Are,” which included 5 of my original songs. First concert experience was at the Riviera in Chicago opening act for Latoya Jackson. My first single act debut was at the “The Melting Pot” Restaurant in Oakbrook and downtown Chicago.
For the last 35 years, through constant creative writing both on guitar and keyboards, I have attained a LIBRARY OF OVER 100 original songs! During the last 20 years, I have worked on various projects at private studios with artists, Rick PARMA Saxman and Peter Misic. I've released several CD’s, including, “Neuron,” followed by a traditional Christmas CD, “On Christmas,” “Luck is on My Way,” “One Day at a Time,” "Blast from the Past" (a compilation of other classic songs), "Rearrange," and "It is what it is." Through hard work & sweat, I've established a home studio where I continue CREATIVE WRITING. Currently, my focus is on SONGWRITING. I continue to play live with saxophonist Rick Parma, the Bobby Dunne Band, and performing live single act shows. Past groups included the Meditations, Sunset Driver, Meta-4, and Sound Check. Venue experience includes performing at Navy Pier Beer Garden, Limestone Grill in Palos Park, Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants and the Riverdale Marina. MY MAIN GOAL IS TO ONE DAY BE A SUCCESSFUL AND ACCOMPLISHED MUSICIAN AND HOPEFULLY GET A RECORD CONTRACT SOME DAY SOON! May our HIGHER POWER shed BLESSINGS upon you!
