Mario Moreno is a seasonal Flamenco, Classical and unaccompanied Jazz musician who has been riding the waves of the Midwest music circuit for over 40 years. His quest to elevate the guitar to a prominant position in the music began at a early age. At the age of only 18 years old Moreno was awarded first prize by the revered Count Basie for his performance in an eight member Latin Rock group by the name Free Verse. Astounding the young virtuoso whoom had merely played for two years was already a person who had great skills at mastering the guitar. One of the most important contribution was communicating the richness and beauty of the classical guitar to many people throughout the region.
Consequently, Mario had aspirations to be a well rounded musician and took on the difficult task of studying Flamenco, Classical and arranging in future years to come. Being accepted into the CHICAGO CONSERVATORY COLLEGE of MUSIC at a young age was a great achievement to fulfill. Studying under Steve Klien, Scott Cmiel and Wayne Magnus helped him polish his skills into quality music.
